Human foetus discovered dumped in Fairland

The police have opened an inquest and await a report from the morgue with test results to answer outstanding questions.

Police have opened an investigation after a human foetus was found discarded on Kessell Street in Fairland on February 2.

Fairland Police Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Clive de Freitas said, “We have opened an inquest case. The body [foetus] was taken to the mortuary to try and identify the mother at a later stage, to determine its age and if possible, what happened to it. The manner in which the foetus was found could result in criminal charges for the mother.”

It is unclear how the foetus ended up in the street. As soon as it was discovered, an ambulance was called and police quickly cordoned off the area while they conducted their investigations.

At the scene, SCP Security’s Gerald Deysel said, “The foetus was found on the road after possibly being dumped in the black refuse bag that is now covering it. There is another white plastic shopping bag which may or may not have been used to disguise the bundle.”

Fairland CPF patrollers were also on hand, helping to redirect traffic that drove past and kept the scene secure while detectives carried out their duties.
This is a developing story and more information will be published as it becomes available.
