De La Salle Holy Cross College High School kicked off the year with its Annual Interhouse Swimming Gala.
House colours, St. Charles House (Blue), St. Benildus House (Green) and St. Francis House (Red) faced off in the water to compete for the gold cup. War cries of each House echoed all around the school, as they excitedly cheered their swimmers on.
The anticipation of which house was going to take home the gold cup is said to have grown more and more after each race. Ultimately, it was St. Francis House who took home the gold, while St. Benildus and St. Charles took home silver and bronze respectively.
Staff members also took part in the fun by challenging learners to a race of their own. The school applauded its staff members who bravely swam against the leaners. The day concluded with the much-anticipated matric pyjama race.
These matrics donned pyjamas over their swimming costumes and swam to the middle of the pool from either side to exchange an item of clothing before rushing to complete the race.
It was definitely an enjoyable day for all and an uplifting start to the school year.
