Who’s their favourite musician?

The paper headed out and asked the youth who their favorite local musicians are. Find out what they had to say.

What local artists are our youth listening to?

To find out the answer to this question, the Northcliff Melville Times headed out into the community to get it straight from the horse’s mouth.

From pop, to house music and hip-hop, these young music lovers know what they like and why.

Here is what they had to say…

VANGAMA MARINGA: My favourite artist is Casper Nyovest because he motivates and inspires me. He is also well-known across the world.
ANGELIQUE AFRIKA: My favourite artist is Elaine because she expresses her emotions based on how others have either hurt or loved her. It’s because of this that her music talks to me and I connect with her through her music and songs.
LEVI THOMPSON: My favourite South African artists are Locnville. When I was still in primary school, I heard them on the radio and I instantly loved them. Something clicked in me and I like them. I found them to be great and I just loved them since.
TSHEGO WA LESEGO: My current favourite South African artist is Samthing Soweto. He just evokes one of the best feelings inside of me. This is happiness mixed with a bit of sadness because his music is so inspirational and has so many different meanings behind it and I just really enjoy it.
THABISO MPOFU: My favourite South African artist is Blackee because he is bringing that new fresh music and that vibe that we youngsters like a lot. He is also innovative, he is not doing the same things other artists are doing.
