Against all odds, Bergbron resident Tanusha Naidoo shines

Tanusha Naidoo was crowned third princess in the English platform of SterStatus in fierce competition.

Tanusha Naidoo (39) lives in Bergbron and is an inspiration to all who meet her.

She has overcome a difficult childhood, was raped, has attempted suicide and as a result suffered from depression and poor mental health. As an adult, she was diagnosed with lupus which has been incredibly difficult to overcome.

She has battled fiercely to get to the point where she is now, a happily married mother of two children who spreads messages of hope and upliftment to others facing difficult times. Her favourite quote is, ‘your past does not define you.’

Recently Naidoo entered a competition to be the next presenter for the Afrikaans reality TV show SterStatus. The show is closely aligned with her beliefs, so she was thrilled when she won the third princess in the English platform at the SterStatus Royal Affair gala held recently at the Velmore Hotel and Spa in Pretoria.

Naidoo said, “I have a sore heart as every single finalist gave their utmost best in the competition. Each finalist is a winner, irrespective of whether they walked away with a title or not. I am extremely thankful to God for giving me the strength to go on SterStatus for the platform that empowers, uplifts and provides opportunities and last but not least…all the women I walked this journey with. They provided support, and encouragement and were a pillar of strength when everything felt like it was hopeless, one strong bunch of women.”

According to its website, SterStatus states, ‘We believe in woman empowerment and we have different tools that we use to empower women and give them opportunities to reach their potential and dreams.’
