Fairland resident responds to closure of Fairland dump

D R van den Heever expresses his dismay at the restriction of municipal service:
On behalf of all the residents of Fairland, Northcliff Ext 22, Berario and Weltevreden Park, who have been dumping at the above-mentioned dump for the past 30 years, we are extremely disappointed and shocked at the closure of our dumping site.

[This is] because a few people have complained about the extension [of services] which has resulted in the closure of the existing dump site. I purchased my property in 1982 and have been dumping like many residents our garden refuse for more than 30 years. There are many senior residents living in the above-mentioned areas, for example, myself at 88 years old and my brother who is over 90.ALSO READ: Fairland rescue is helping the most vulnerable kittens survive and thrive
We are now expected to dump our refuse at the Greenside refuse dump site which is a considerable distance away. With reference to the vagrant problem, I am confident that the local police station together with the most competent security company in the country, if approached, could contain the vagrant problem.
I earnestly appeal to the committee to reconsider our request.
