15 new trees to make Alberts Farm beautiful

Donated by members of Afriforum, the trees were planted by them and their families alongside Friends of Alberts Farm Conservancy.

Alberts Farm now boasts 15 newly planted trees that were donated by Afriforum.

On September 24, a few members of this civil rights organisation, along with their families, spent the morning planting indigenous trees with Friends of Alberts Farm Conservancy (FOAFC). The trees, which were either wild peach, sweet thorn and river bush willow trees, were planted in the main garden area.

There were also trees planted near the graves of the Alberts family, the butterfly garden near the playground roundabout and swings.

Chairperson of FOAFC Colleen Rood explained that a number of trees in the park had died in the last few years due to old age, termite damage, being burnt at the base by park users and damage caused by the polyphagous shot-hole borer.
