Roosevelt Park business hit by armed robbers

An expensive cellphone was stolen during a fraught exchange with victims.

A recent business robbery in Roosevelt Park saw a woman held at gunpoint before the robbers made away with her cell phone.

According to Sergeant Takalani Sibiya of the Linden Police Station, on August 19, a male suspect entered the place of business pretending to need a doctor’s assistance. The suspect was given a form to fill out while the soon-to-be victim helped a patient that was already there.

“Suddenly, the complainant saw another two men walking toward the building. It was while she called her colleague for help that the suspect said the men were there to help him,” she explained.

Sibiya said the suspect then pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the victim. She added the patient that was being attended to confronted the suspect and the victim was able to run away toward the back yard calling again for her colleague.

A few minutes later, the victim went back into the building and found the suspects had stolen her cellphone valued at R10 000 from the reception desk.
