Local style stars light up the night at the Northcliff High fundraising fashion show

The annual Northcliff High fundraising fashion show was a roaring and glittering success.

The Northcliff High School matric fashion show is an annual highlight and something learners look forward to from as early as Grade 8.

A critical event in the Debutants and Squires school charity’s fundraising calendar, it is a visual spectacle that the entire Grade 12 class participates in. The charity assists learners in various ways from assisting those who are less fortunate to ensuring school projects are successfully implemented and benefit the school community.

This year there were 70 models, three MCs and four different performing acts. The councillors, more commonly known as prefects, also put on a dance performance. All learners had to audition to participate as either a model, to perform or be an MC.

Jo Coetzer of the charity said, “We had rehearsals for weeks to work out the choreography and to make sure the event was top class. The three independent judges marked the models according to a rubric in two categories, one for formal wear and the other either sport or casual attire.”,

The hall was packed with 445 staff members, learners and guests cheering on the performers and enjoying the event.

For the girls, the second runner up-was Taniel Nevin, the runner-up was Rethabile Kokoali and the winner was Che Harris.

For the boys, the second runner-up was Brody Griffin, the runner-up was Jayden Katemba and the winner was Nicolaas de Klerk.
The next big event for the charity is the glittering ball which will be held at Usambara on October 21.
