A kalidescope of scenes from Northcliff

It's a suburb residents and businesses love to be in for the natural beauty and friendly community.

Located in Region B, Northcliff is situated on part of an old Witwatersrand farm called Waterfal and was established in 1934 and named after the ridge, according to the Dictionary of Southern African Place Names.

It is in a convenient location with access to large shopping malls, the N1 highway and easy to travel to either Sandton or the CBD. The beautiful Johannesburg Botanical Gardens and Emmarentia Dam are nearby and boast several superb government schools.

Kim Blanchard is a dog walker that looks after the area’s four-legged residents and also provides loving and fun short-term boarding facilities.

Leafy streets wind up the largest cliff that breaks the otherwise flat terrain of the city. “Northcliff hill is the only high open point in Johannesburg which provides both a beautiful view of the CBD and the country”, said the late Professor Revil Mason, a passionate archaeologist.

Northcliff borders the suburbs of Fairland, Blackheath, Cresta and Berario, and has relatively low levels of crime, which is policed by Fairland SAPS.

The Northcliff Boutique Hotel offers five-star dining at its Kranz Restaurant which locals and hotel guests can enjoy while overlooking the vistas of the city.

This is by no means a comprehensive overview of the area, but rather a snapshot of some of the offerings and beauty of the suburb that makes it worth a visit.
