Calls for support to make firebreaks in parks as fire season arrives

Let's Work is appealing for funds to support their work in protecting green shared spaces.

Several veld fires broke out in and around Ward 88 recently and community members watched in awe.

One was a massive blaze in the Hofmeyer Drive area near the power lines in Emmarentia.

The Randburg and Roosevelt fire stations helped put out the blazes with the latter attending with their Skid vehicle.

Felicity Lawlor from Let’s Work, a local NGO, has appealed for funds to help them continue creating firebreaks in open spaces to preserve and protect our green areas. She is passionate about protecting the trees that are damaged when fires wreak havoc if uncontrolled or in areas without firebreaks.
