Woman recounts ordeal at hands of violent criminals – police respond

Police are yet to raise alarm despite private security companies stating violent crime is on the rise.

Both Beagle Watch and SCP Security say violent crime is increasing.

One woman recounts her ordeal at the hands of brazen and violent criminals.

While sitting at home in the late afternoon *Louise was unaware that armed robbers silently crept into her home.

Despite being security conscious, she did not always lock her back door after each trip after being in her garden or hanging up laundry.

The first she knew about the invasion was when a hand suddenly moved across her face to silence her mouth.

“They pulled my clothes to get me to the ground where they screamed at me to show them where the money was. I was being choked and was absolutely terrified. I don’t keep money at home, but they did not believe me.”

Louise was kicked repeatedly in a bid to force a confession to where valuables were presumably hidden. There were none.

“I was dragged to another room where I screamed for help before a gun was put to my head which silenced me once again. While I was been dealt with, others were ransacking my home.”

Some electronics were taken along with a few other items and they left. “But not before a departing hit to the head.”

“It happened so fast and was over in just a few minutes when it went quiet.”

She has been seen by her doctor for her painful injuries which will heal a lot faster than the mental scars she has.

Following this event, she has now signed up for private security in a bid to ward off possible future attacks. “Clive (Maher) from SCP Security and our community has been amazing without whom I don’t know how I would not have lost my mind.”

Police respond to allegations

Brixton and Fairland police were asked to respond to statements from private security companies that violent crime is increasing.

Fairland Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Michael Kgatla said, “In our precinct, we have only had a few incidents in the past month with no more than five robberies reported to our station.”

Brixton Police Station spokesperson Jeanette Backhoff says, “For the past two months, we have seen an increase in house robberies especially in Melville, Auckland Park, and Brixton. These tend to occur between 00:00 – 02:59 and 03:00 – 05:59. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays being the most problematic days.”

She said common robberies have decreased.

“Students are being targeted as they are easy targets to criminals. The problematic days are Fridays, Mondays, and Saturdays in Melville, Auckland Park, and Richmond.

Police are not allowed to reveal crime statistics in a detailed manner until they have been audited.

*Not her real name. The location of the home invasion and other identifying details have been scrubbed from this account to protect her identity. Fear was etched across her face while recounting her ordeal and she fears reprisals from her attackers should she be recognised.
