Melville has a hidden gem by the name of Billy Langa, an accomplished actor, director, and educator, making significant strides in South African theatre as the co-founder and co-director of Theatre Duo & Co (Pty) Ltd.

In 2022, he received the prestigious Standard Bank Young Artist Award for Theatre, recognising his remarkable contributions and immersive performances, particularly in the acclaimed production Tswalo, which continues to captivate audiences six years after its debut.
Langa’s journey into the arts began in 2010 at the Trevor Huddleston Memorial Centre in Sophiatown, where he initially sought to explore his passion for poetry while studying electrical engineering.
His involvement with the theatre program at the centre led to a transformative experience as part of the Sophiatown Ambassadors, a collaboration that took him to the UK and solidified his commitment to the performing arts.
He later enrolled in the Market Theatre Laboratory for an intensive two-year course, marking the beginning of an impactful career.

Despite his accolades, Langa candidly addresses the challenges of working as a freelance artist in a financially precarious industry. He acknowledges the difficulty of attracting audiences and sustaining a culture of ticket sales in South Africa.
Yet, he embraces his role as a self-employed entrepreneur, navigating the complexities of the creative sector.
Among his proudest achievements are the Standard Bank Young Artist Award and his inclusion in the 2024 Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans list, which honours emerging leaders who positively impact society.
Inspired by theatre icons like Jon Kani, Langa envisions a future where the arts and sciences collaborate to create extraordinary theatre experiences.
He believes that African storytelling traditions can provide a rich foundation for innovative narratives. He continues to push boundaries in the arts, aiming to elevate South African theatre while fostering a deeper connection between creativity and innovation.
