About 30 volunteers made their way to the Emmarentia-based gardens on August 8 where they pruned all the rose terraces. There to better educate them all on how to properly prune was founder of Ludwig’s, Ludwig Taschner, who held a pruning demonstration. According to the chairperson of the society, Barbara Wood, pruning is important for roses to produce better quality blooms and send out healthy branches. It should take place between mid July and the first week of August.

“It is our aim to try and maintain this garden for the public to enjoy,” said Wood, who added that it is not the function of the society alone, but rather an effort that should also be contributed towards by a proactive community.
