Multipurpose astro court to show sporting talent of Laerskool Louw Geldenhuys

The school unveiled the upgraded facility to proud staff, encouraged parents, and excited children.

A newly unveiled multipurpose astro court is all the rage for young hockey, netball, and tennis players of Laerskool Louw Geldenhuys. Officially opened on August 1, the event was attended by staff and parents, as well as the learners.

“It’s really a nice festive evening for us; we don’t get an opportunity every day to be able to open brand new sports facility at our school,” said the school’s principal, Martin Bensch. He continued that this project was able to see its completion all thanks to the school governing body.

Bensch considers the school to be incredibly blessed to have a very good governing body. “These are not small expenses, but I can tell you, with good financial management we can undertake projects like this.” The school, and its governing body, are said to have worked for the past few years in ensuring they develop into, and remain, a world class school, not only for today’s learners but for generations to come.

In the principal’s opinion, this astro court will change the rhythm of the school, as now they have exciting activities to add, such as a hockey club, which will see the school work together with Hoërskool Linden’s hockey club. Along with the various sports it’s meant to accommodate, the astro court can also be used to practice hurdles, long jumps, and some run-ups. “This is Olympic Games standard, and this is the type of quality that we want to give to our children, because the talent is here,“ Bensch said. He also said that with the level of talent found at the school, it is important to give the learners the very best.

The principal said the best part of the event was seeing the children have free play. During this time he loved seeing them having fun, partaking in sport and genuinely enjoying themselves, with no cellphones or gadgets insight.
