New president of Northcliff Rotary Club Ragu Govender assumes his role with a strong commitment to community-focused initiatives and sustainable projects.

With a vision to enhance membership and visibility within the community, Govender aims to strengthen collaboration and introduce mentoring programmes for young boys.

Understanding the challenges of fundraising in the current economic climate, he emphasises pursuing meaningful and sustainable projects with clear plans to communicate their value effectively to sponsors and individuals.

Under his leadership, the club will continue ongoing initiatives such as providing wheelchairs, organising primary school speech contests, and supporting Guild Cottage. “Additionally, plans for a tree-planting project are underway, along with once-off initiatives for the less fortunate and premature babies.”

He expressed that the successful Classic Car Show and Picnic in July demonstrated the club’s dedication to positive impact, with contributions going towards completing the fencing of Smit Street Park.

Recognising the shared values of the club, he aims to strengthen relationships with community organisations to expand the club’s charitable endeavours.
