Teddy Bears bring support for Mandela Day

For Mandela Day, Crossroads School collected preloved teddy bears which were donated to the Teddy Bear Clinic

Nelson Mandela was affectionately known as ‘the father of the nation’ and it is fitting that his passion was the education of children.

Bearing all of Madiba’s ideals in mind, Victory Park-based Crossroads School observed Mandela Day through the collection of pre-loved teddy bears which were donated to the Teddy Bear Clinic. Various grades took part in this kind gesture, one of those being the Grade 0s. On the day, they brought to school teddy bears they no longer needed and during class put aside 67 minutes of their time to pen down a note for its new recipient.

Teddy Bear Clinic is an organisation that provides professional services to prevent and minimise the devastating effects of abuse on children and their families. It is said that teddy bears act as transitional objects, providing essential support during emotionally challenging times.

The clinic also assists children who have faced traumas such as child trafficking, murders, and inflicted abuse.
