Technau said, the donation makes it possible for them to provide support over and above what is already offered by the hospital. “The items that we received and bought made it possible to provide additional comfort for patients who are in desperate need, and who are battling with serious conditions.” Adding they are in the process of building their palliative care department that caters for adults, children, and perinatal patients, and this donation has provided support and a very helpful boost to their efforts.

The professor said, donations such as these are highly appreciated by the hospital, and it means a lot to them to be able to collaboratively (public and private sector) address challenges, all while giving them a sense that they are not alone when dealing with difficult circumstances. He also said that the private sectors aid is not one taken for granted or expected, rather it is one highly welcomed and appreciated.

The donation will directly benefit patients as well as the staff indirectly, “The staff are able to feel extra fulfilment in being able to provide something extra or special to a patient or their family,” said Technau. The hospital is faced with various challenges; one of its big problems being its old infrastructure and understaffing, which one could say contributes to a lot of burnout and fatigue among staff.
