Johannesburg Flying Squad’s weekend operations yield multiple arrests and vehicle recoveries

In a weekend of relentless pursuit, the Johannesburg Flying Squad emerged victorious, apprehending five suspects and reclaiming three stolen vehicles.

The Johannesburg Flying Squad flew through arrests by achieving significant success this past weekend. Squad members arrested five suspects in the Johannesburg area and recovered three robbed and stolen vehicles.

On Thursday June 27, squad members were following up on information and proceeded to a house in Auckland Avenue, Auckland Park. Upon arrival, a search was conducted, resulting in the recovery of four iPhones. One suspect was subsequently placed under arrest for possession of suspected stolen property with a value of R60 000. The suspect was detained at Brixton SAPS.

In another operation, members proceeded to a house in Vrededorp, Jan Hofmeyr, where they uncovered a variety of stolen goods, including eight laptops, a camera, and a plasma TV. One suspect was arrested for possession of suspected stolen property and detained at Brixton SAPS.

On Friday, June 28, a silver grey Suzuki Swift and a white Toyota bakkie were stolen. However, the squad was able to recover both vehicles – found abandoned in Alexandra on the same day. The vehicles were subsequently booked at Aeroton SAP 13.

On Sunday, June 30, squad members provided backup to Cartrack regarding a silver BMW X5 that was stolen in Primrose. The vehicle was spotted in Esher Road, Brixton, resulting in the arrest of three suspects for possession of a stolen vehicle. The suspects were detained at Brixton SAPS, and the vehicle was booked at Aeroton SAP 13.

Five suspects, aged between 25 and 35 years old, will soon appear in Brixton Magistrate’s Court. They are facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property and possession of a stolen vehicle.
