Two residents of the Emmarentia community Sommaya Motala and Jenny Grice, played a huge role in distributing information on where the locations are of the boreholes, and where residents are in need of water.

Sommaya highlighted the presence of two main boreholes, located at the Greenside Mosque and the Roosevelt Park Mosque. Additionally, numerous private boreholes, approximately one per street or every two streets, have been made accessible to the community, reflecting the residents’ commitment to assisting each other during this challenging period.

The mosques have played a pivotal role in providing access to their boreholes for community use, with the water issue prompting proactive measures to ensure that essential water resources are made available. In times of dire need, the community has also mobilised a small tanker, generously loaned by Gift of the Givers, to supplement the water supply.
