Wild orchids of the Melville Koppies

Melville Koppies boasts a wild array of plants one of those being the orchid. Here are some terrestrial orchids you could find at this nature site.

It is said that there are around 28 000 species of orchids and close to 500 species can be found in South Africa.

What is really awesome is that some of these species can be found right here in your community, at the Melville Koppies. Some are bold and striking while others are subtle and understated – each one with its own unique beauty and flowering times.

Here are a few you could find on your next visit to the nature site…
