Exciting soccer action at the Engen Knockout Qualifiers.

The Emmerentia Sports Club was alive with the passion of soccer as 96 teams clashed in the Engen Knockout Qualifiers. Spectators witnessed remarkable talent and fierce competition.

Marks Park was abuzz with soccer fever as the Engen Knockout Qualifiers were played from June 15 to 17.
The tournament featured 117 teams with 86 matches played over three days.

The tournament had the attention of the Gauteng Development League with teams such as Panorama FC, Highlands Park, Sevens Academy, NWU Vaal, Kathorus Hyper Academy, School of Excellence, and Rosina Sedibane participating. The qualifiers also featured teams that compete in the lower leagues of the Gauteng region, with many having the opportunity to showcase what they can bring onto the pitch.

Development coordinator at Marksparks, Puseletso Magana emphasised that the tournament provided a good platform for the players to sharpen their football talent. “Since it was a three-day tournament, young soccer players got the opportunity to build relationships with other kids from other regions.”

The tournament witnessed remarkable displays of talent and sportsmanship as teams fought for victory and a chance to advance to the next stage of the competition. As the matches unfolded, spectators were treated to a showcase of skill, teamwork, and determination from the participating teams.

Only nine of the 117 teams that participated in this Gauteng leg of the qualifier tournament progressed to the Engen Knockout competition, which will take place next month.
