Young soccer star hopes to play for Mamelodi Sundowns one day

Aside from his own dreams, Lucas Moyane hopes more women will join the sport in the future.

Lucas Moyane (16) writes about his love for soccer:

I love playing soccer for my school and township. I have even earned the name on the ground as TT-walezinto.

The name means I am always making something happen on the pitch.

I got the name because I always participate in my team’s wins.

Soccer is a sport that requires you to keep fit and always attend training; it is essential.

To balance my studies and my soccer career, I always try to keep up with my schoolwork during the week and play on weekends. This is easy for me because I have been playing soccer since I was six years old, and my dad trains me.

I believe with proper training and support, I will be seen on TV in the coming years, playing for Mamelodi Sundowns FC.

I also want to create a soccer team that is for both men and women.

I really wish more women could play soccer and those who are already playing soccer can get recognised by big soccer clubs.
