What stage holds for this community theatre group in 2024

Franklin Players Community Theatre Group shares on what they will take from 2023 as they envisage a stellar 2024.

Franklin Players Community Theatre Group hopes that 2024 brings with it peace and happiness for all of the community.

Outgoing chairperson, Hendrik Greyvenstein had some news to share about the year that was for the theatre group. A highlight of theirs for 2023 was that this was the first year the group was able to complete their three productions for the year since being closed during the pandemic. Early in the year, they held one-act plays which were then followed by their mid-year farce that took place in July and they ended off the year with their pantomime, Snow White and 7 Ugly Sisters.

The previous year did hold its challenges in terms of finances. Greyvenstein explained, “Finances to put up amateur community stage productions are always a problem for NPO theatre groups and Franklin Players have been able to overcome these difficulties by donations from the community and theatre members.”

This year the group looks forward to being led by a new committee, one the outgoing chairperson described as being up to the task of delivering on community promises.

Greyvenstein looked forward to many things in 2024, on the personal front it is all that comes with immigrating to the USA whilst for the group of talented thespians he leaves behind, look forward to all the great productions they will put up in 2024.
