The Melville Koppies proves it’s more than ‘just a bit a grass’

The great outdoors await and they are right by your doorstep.

‘I thought the Koppies were just a bit of grass’ were the words a recent visitor to Melville Koppies shared when she went on a guided tour.

‘Wow. I’ve learnt so much. Melville Koppies is an amazing place with so many interesting stories about the plants, archaeology, and history! I’ll be back with my friends.’

The guided tour takes on a hike that seems them venture on either a 5km trail or a self-guided along many other trails. Jenny Grice, a volunteer at the Koppies thinks this could just be the perfect way for you to tick off some boxes for your New Year’s resolutions by learning something new, getting fitter, or maybe just going out into nature.

The Koppies are open every Sunday morning, 08:00-11.30 and there is safe parking (opposite the Melville Koppies entrance) at Marks Park Sports Club, Judith Road, Emmarentia. There is also security on the Koppies provided.

It is R90 for adults, and for children U18 is R50. All funds are used to maintain the Koppies.
