Some good news from the editor’s desk
After much hard work and dedication, a member of the Northcliff Melville Times team readies herself for her next challenge.
As 2023 draws to a close, Aimee McGill, the editor of Randburg Sun, Northcliff Melville Times and Fourways Review, wishes to congratulate senior journalist on Northcliff Melville Times Emily Wellman-Bain on her promotion to news editor.
Emily’s rise has been meteoric, having only ventured into the world of journalism about 18 months ago. Since then, she has tackled some of the biggest issues in the Northcliff Melville Times distribution area, with a particular focus on issues including homelessness and its effects.
She has not shied away from any challenge that has been placed before her and was earlier this year awarded the prestigious Alet Roux award by the FCJ (Forum of Community Journalists). This award recognises the best upcoming journalist in the community journalism industry and is a true testament to the person that Emily is.
While she will continue working and writing for the Northcliff Melville Times, she will also now be a news editor for the Fourways Review and the Midrand Reporter.
She will have her team to mentor and pass her skills and knowledge on to.
Well done Emily, we are extremely proud of you and can’t wait to see what you do with this new challenge that lies before you.
