Historic Documentary Film Society screens Born Free

The Historic Documentary Film Society will screen the iconic film at its final meeting of the year.

Anyone who has ever seen the film will agree that it is one of the most memorable true-life animal stories ever told.

Born Free is based on Joy Adamson’s best-seller of Elsa, the lioness who was rescued and raised by two Kenyan game wardens.
The film stars husband and wife team, Bill Travers and Virginia McKenna as Joy and George Adamson and follows their lives as they raise Elsa and ultimately, release her back into the wild where she joins a pride and mothers her own cubs.

This type of film is exactly the send-off that 2023 needs, and as such, will be screened by The Historic Documentary Film Society on December 6.
Tickets cost R130 and include a lavish tea.

The screening takes place at the Ditsong Military Museum at 9:30 for 10:00.
