Brandcliff House boxcar extravaganza

TotalEnergies in Fairland made a custom-built track for the Grade 9 teams to race in their self-built boxcars.

Brandcliff House partnered with TotalEnergies Fairland to host their annual Grade 9 Boxcar Race in which teams compete for the first-place trophy.

Principal Jonathan Linde said, “For weeks, students have built their own vehicles from scratch, using skills and techniques learnt in their technology class.”

He says anticipation built until finally, the day had arrived to put the vehicles to the test on a custom-built racetrack at TotalEnergies in Fairland.

Jayde Littleford, Anrich Visser, Chloe Slater and Jayden Sanjobo did brilliantly with their Shadow Wheel car.

The whole school was in attendance to demonstrate their support for the four teams, the Flaming-goes, Shadow Wheel, Let Us Cook and The Go Slo’s.

As the race progressed, the boxcars were put out of action one by one due to mechanical failures.

Team Shadow Wheel ultimately won the trophy in their well-designed vehicle.

“Jayde Littleford, Anrich Visser, Chloe Slater and Jayden Sanjobo did brilliantly with their Shadow Wheel car,” said Linde.

“Brandcliff House is grateful to TotalEnergies Fairland for hosting this event, and to all the Grade 9 boxcar teams for their hard work leading up to the race!”
