The City of Joburg’s Emergency Services (EMS) responded to a fire incident call at a three-storey hijacked building in Marshalltown, Johannesburg on September 15.
According to Xolile Khumalo, the media liaison officer for EMS, they received the call just before 10:00. “The building is not too far from the first fire that took place two weeks ago(August 31) that claimed over 70 lives.”
Khumalo confirmed that there were no injuries or fatalities and the tenants were evacuated.
All relevant authorities are on scene and the cause of the fire is still unclear at this stage.
