The much-anticipated SPAR Women’s Challenge Jozi is back, and this time, it brings an exciting announcement that has the community buzzing with anticipation. Goodie bags are making a triumphant return, and they’re not just any goodie bags – they’re packed with heart and purpose.

Goodie Bags Packed with Heart:

For all the determined finishers who cross the finish line at Marks Park, a very special treat awaits them – a thoughtfully curated goodie bag. What makes these goodie bags more remarkable is that they are packed with care and dedication by the residents of Irene Homes. This non-profit organisation empowers individuals with intellectual disabilities.

The relationship between the SPAR Women’s Challenge Jozi and Irene Homes goes a long way. The excitement was palpable when the SPAR Women’s Challenge Jozi Team, along with some of their esteemed brand ambassadors, including Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp, Faith Motau, and René Kalmer, paid a visit to the Irene Homes centre this week to kickstart the packing process.

Liezel Hermanus, Project Facilitator at Irene Homes, shared her heartfelt sentiments about the project: “The residents are genuinely excited to be a part of this initiative. It gives them a sense of purpose to know that they are packing a bag that will bring a smile to the face of every SPAR Women’s Challenge Jozi finisher. She also conveyed a message to every finisher, assuring them that when they receive these bags, they are receiving a piece of love, passion, and pride crafted by the residents of Irene Homes.”

Marlene Gunter, SPAR Women’s Challenge Race Organiser, echoed these sentiments: “Packing the bags with Irene Homes is one of the highlights for me and my team. In the three years when no physical races took place due to COVID-19, we dearly missed their contagious energy and love. We are blessed to have them back on our team this year!”
