Junkie Charity Shop relocates to Linden

The imaginative and ever-changing store is a bargain for shoppers with the added benefit of supporting worthwhile charities whilst thrifting.

The Junkie Charity Store has been a staple in the community for raising funds for organisations working for the betterment of the vulnerable.

Founded in 2010 by Michelle de Villiers, it has relocated to Linden after being in Melville for 13 years.

A unique selling point of this store is that people who donate items to sell can choose which benefit organisation they would like to help. “It makes giving to outfits that are in line with the donor’s interests so much easier,” says de Villiers.

The shop is bursting with high-quality merchandise that is constantly changing meaning no two visits will be the same when thrifting for interesting and beautiful household goods.

Individual items will change but a constant supply of art, vintage clothing and accessories, homeware, furniture, and more are always on sale.

“Special areas cater to specific interests like haberdashery, toys, books, and long play records. It’s an ever-changing inventory, so you never know what exciting discoveries await during your next visit.”

“Junkie holds a deep appreciation for the value of second-hand items, recognising their generational worth and contributing to the reduction of our collective carbon footprint.”

Through their commitment to promoting reuse and reselling, they not only provide shoppers with great bargains and money-saving opportunities but also extend valuable help to charitable causes and community projects.

Some of the charity organisations supported by Junkie include Abraham Kriel Children’s Home (Maria Kloppers Campus), Ban Animal Trading, Children of Fire, Melville Koppies Heritage Fund, Princess Alice Adoption Home, and Salvation Army Old Age Home Emmarentia.

The new premises are at Shop 18, 59 4th Avenue in Linden.
