“We invite all of you to become part of a history determined to create diversity, inclusion and ultimately transform an outdated narrative of who or what is worth our concern. The geo-political climate of the world has always embraced turbulent outcomes with no real resolve or conflict. We might not be able to fix a systemic issue tomorrow, but we can change the way we see our influence on the world now,” said the representatives.

They went on to say as this years TDI representatives, they would provide resources throughout the college spaces online and at school to empower all the learners’ ambitions and dreams for the world. “We strive to educate you about your rights alongside your responsibilities and create leaders who aim to serve a community needing impactful change now and tomorrow. Let us be the first that we may be of service to all,” said Thembelihle and Francesca.

He spoke about how he had harnessed the power of his background to make the most of his opportunities. Mandla N grew up in Soweto and recounted how he had to take three taxis to get to De La Salle Holy Cross College for his high school years.

He acknowledged the power of self-belief and having someone believe in you, even if it is just one person. He also acknowledged Judy Werth for being an awesome teacher and mentor to him and many other learners at the college.
