The power of reading celebrated at King David Victory Park

Some of the school's high school learners took the time out to sit and read to the school's youngest members.

King David Victory Park recently took part in World Read Aloud Day and it involved the coming together of the younger and older children at the school.

Armed with children’s books and stories were 43 of the high school’s learners who made their way up the school hill to King David Ariel. Once they arrived, they teamed up with an excited group of Grade 1 to 3 learners who were eager to celebrate the magic of reading.

Some high school learners read to King David Ariel learners.

Grade 9 learner Daniel Segal said, “It’s fair to say that, in only the space of an hour, we smashed the purpose of the day out of the park. We were able to express the importance and significance of reading to the King David Ariel learners.”
He added they created a strong community spirit as they were able to bond with children much younger than them.

“Most importantly, everyone had a blast and a really wonderful time, such as when we showed them some of the hilarious images in the books, which caused them to laugh so hard.”

The school observes the day every year and finds it exciting to watch how with the turn of a few pages of a book, friendships are founded over a love of reading.
