The merge to help keep Melville safer

The Melville Security Initiative shares how its working together with private security Beagle Watch will better aid the community.

Melville Security Initiative (MSI) has begun work with private security company Beagle Watch on community engagement days.

One of their first collaborative efforts was a cat and dog chipping day that took place at Melville Farmers Market recently and saw over 30 pets get chipped. They hope to host a mini security expo as the next community day soon.

Danyle Nunes, a member of MSI, said the initiative has mostly been a background body in the community. Since his appointment as a contractor a year ago, he has been working to bring their activities to the foreground. “I’m sure many residents have noticed the clean-ups and repair work we have been doing in our footprint and, as I continue to strengthen the relationships we have with city services like Pikitup, City Power, Joburg Water and JRA, we will be able to maintain our areas better,” explained Nunes.

He also said the partnership between them and the private security company will go a long way to ensure that clean-up days as well as future projects like The Safe Streets project as well as CCTV infrastructures are a success.
