Parkview police visit schools during Child Protection week

The station spent a week travelling to various schools as they commemorated Child Protection Week.

Officers of Parkview Police Station visited various schools in their precinct during National Child Protection week.

The week, held from May 29 to June 5, is commemorated annually to ensure that all children’s needs are protected against neglect, abuse, violence and exploitation. This year’s theme was ‘Working together to protect children’.

On May 30, Station Commander Colonel Devan Govender, together with the police’s K9 unit, CPF and SCP security, conducted a school search at Roosevelt High School to create a safe environment for the leaners and the teachers. Officers also visited Hope School in Westcliff and the learners there were addressed on child abuse and bullying.

At Vuleka Pre-primary School, learners were informed about the police’s role in child protection and the importance to know the emergency number 10111.

Govender thanked the CPF and SCP security for their presence during the school search. He further thanked the Greenside Residents Association for their donation of clothes that were given to Princess Alice adoption home during the police’s visit there.
