The Historic Documentary Film Society will be screening an intimate portrait of Princess Diana, presented by acclaimed director and screen actor Lord Richard Attenborough on Wednesday, June 29.

The film, Diana – Queen of Hearts is a tribute to the late princess from his unique perspective as a friend of Diana’s over many years.

Interviews of people who knew her throughout her life are shown, including world figures who speak of her hopes and fears from her fairy-tale marriage to her tragic end.

“This special presentation is both a loving tribute to one of the great leaders of our generation, as well as a celebration of who Diana truly was, the power she had to heal and inspire, and the legacy she left behind,” said Attenborough.

The screening will take place in the Ditsong Military Museum auditorium in Saxonwold and will be followed by a lavish tea. A ticket will cost R120, to be paid by cash at the door.

Host of the event Selwyn Klass is a well-known historian and fan of monarchies, especially the British royal family. He has not only met Queen Elizabeth II but is unquestionably one of the most knowledgeable locals when it comes to Diana and her life.

Details: Screening June 29 at 9:30 am at the Ditsong Military Museum.
