Water interruptions to hit parts of Joburg north

There will be water interruptions in Joburg's northern suburbs and other parts of the city.

Johannesburg Water has warned residents of a Rand Water shutdown scheduled for June 3.

The shutdown will be for 24 hours. It will take approximately three to five days for the system to adequately recover after the supply has been fully restored.

According to Johannesburg Water, “The shutdown is due to the installation of a new non-return valve on pumpset 20 at the Vereeniging Water Treatment Plant and to tie in the newly installed F46 pipeline to the existing F34 pipeline.”

The water supply to the Eikenhof Booster Station will be reduced by 50%, which will affect several areas in Johannesburg Water’s area of supply.

Northcliff and Randburg are among the suburbs that will be affected.

Residents are encouraged to visit the Johannesburg Water Twitter and Facebook pages for updates.
