Campaigning for mental health
How Sparrow FET College hopes to impact positively on the mental health of their students.
To address what is being called a growing mental health epidemic, Sparrow FET College recently hosted a mental health and disability awareness campaign.
The school’s Lesta Lekgau explained that to educate and raise awareness on mental health in the school’s community, they invited different organisations to their exhibition.
Lekgau said such days will raise awareness to their students experiencing social and emotional distress and how to respond and connect to quality support effectively.
Lekgau concluded that education around mental health and disabilities is important as it reduces the associated stigma so that conversations, such as seeking help, become normalised.
