The Theatre in the Park is ready to reopen

The Theatre in Park will reopen on June 11 with the Bottomless Coffee Band.

The pandemic has not only robbed many people of their jobs but also the joy of being entertained.

Covid-19 took its toll on the industry as many entertainment businesses had to function under 50% capacity and some had to close.

Theatre in the Park producer Ramsden Lyall said, “The Theatre in Park was one of the entertainment businesses affected by Covid-19. “The theatre closed for about two years.”

Ramsden explained how the theatre’s name came about. “When I saw this venue in Delta Park, I approached the management of the building in the park to say I have this idea stuck in my head of something called Theatre in the Park. I then asked myself where in the world would you have such a beautiful venue in the middle of a park?

“I then proposed this idea to the management of the building to start these events called Theatre in the Park. The idea would be to have theatre productions, not just an evening out in the theatre but it must be an experience, and people would be able to come out in numbers and would be able to escape from reality with a food and drink experience.”

Ramsden said people had been asking when the theatre would reopen. “The theatre will reopen on June 11 with the performance of the Bottomless Coffee Band.
“We would like to give people the magical experience of escaping from the real world.”
The theatre has hosted some of South Africa’s well-known artists such as Elvis Blue, George Town and many more.
