Swimmers break records for Northcliff High School

NORTHCLIFF – The A team swimmers made skills ensured that they celebrate their 21st win over the history of one particular gala event.

After two years of not being able to get into the pool due to Covid-19 disruptions, Northcliff High School swimmers wasted no time in showing how lapsed time did not hinder their talents in the water.

Recently the school’s A B and C swimming teams participated in several galas in which they were each undefeated as they squared up against other schools’ A teams.

On March 3, the A team inter-high gala took place at Delville Swimming Pool in Germiston. The school was victorious as it ensured its 21st win in the history of the gala and its fifth win in a row.

The school won by 882 points, giving them a 210-point winning margin which was said to have been the biggest in the history of this particular gala. Swimmers Zane Niemand, Leigh McMorran, Daniel Billings and Ella Stacey each took home a win in two events in their respective swimming events.

Fellow swimmers Angela Bowen, Caelyn White, Andrea Germs, Kelvin Germs, Tristan Alpers, Tadiwanashe Mujati, Chris Haseli, Connor Mitchell, Jessica Baker and Rachel Guymer each won one event.

The school’s B team swam on March 2 at Beaulieu College in the D-League gala against only A teams and achieved third place with 495 points.
