Chuck the Cheetah’s big nomination

VICTORY PARK – Children's book author Augustine Mulenga's book has been nominated in the TCK Publishing Reader's Choice Awards.

Local author Augustine Mulenga shares his excitement about being nominated for the 2022 TCK Publishing Reader’s Choice Awards.

He has been nominated in the Best Children’s Book category for his book, Chuck the Cheetah. This will be the first time one of his books has been nominated.

The children’s book writer described the book as a story that depicts how one can gracefully win and lose as well as showcase the dangers of being arrogant.

Mulenga started to write books and stories when he was about 10 years old but started writing professionally in October 2020. So far, the books he has published are geared toward children aged between two and eight years old. The author has also written a book for older children aged 10 to 14, but this will only be published later in the year.

The first book he ever wrote was The Obstinate Donkey when he was 10 years old. It was later renamed Donk and the Stubborn Donkey, which became the first book he ever published

Writing is his passion and he feels as though he is living his dream, especially when he sees how happy and excited the children are about his stories and books. Mulenga’s favourite author growing up was Roald Dahl and the very first book he read was The BFG.

From his books, he hopes his books will help children with phonics as well as teach them important life lessons.
