Weltevreden Road gets a clean-up

NORTHCLIFF – Local non-profit group Community Cleaners got their hands dirty to ensure the safety of motorists.

Local group Community Cleaners spent a morning clearing out overgrown grass on the intersection of Weltevreden Road and 9th Avenue.

The clean-up on March 12, was a much-needed one as this particular intersection had been neglected and, according to Andre Swanepoel, one of the group’s founders, urgent maintenance was required as it was difficult for motorists to see oncoming traffic.

“This section of Weltevreden Road leading into 9th Avenue needs a lot more attention which will be done on the weekend of 26 March,” he said.

Swanepoel also thanked the passing motorists, who, on the day, showed patience as because of the work that was done, one lane had to be closed.

“Slowly but surely we are starting to see a difference in our area and appreciation from the community judging on the number of likes we are getting on Facebook and our local WhatsApp groups.”
