Online fraud cases continued to be reported

FAIRLAND – A warning to be careful when exchanging money for goods and service on online marketplaces.

Fairland Police Station has experienced a number of cases being opened in relation to online fraud.

According to the station’s spokesperson Sergeant Michael Kgatla, this is one of the most frequently reported cases taking place in their precinct.

He said, “We are warning the public once again to be careful when purchasing goods and services on online marketplaces. We have received reports of people having their money stolen after being scammed and giving up their items after being given fake proof of payments.”

Although committed to investigating such cases, the station urged the public to be wary of these transactions and to look out for signs of this crime. The station offered a few safety tips in an attempt to reduce the chance of the public falling victim to such.
