Little Ashford Linden challenges schools

VICTORY PARK – Little Ashford Linden has put a challenge to schools to make a difference in their community by coming to the aid of the CPF and to organisations that need help.

It must be true when they say ‘dynamite comes in small packages’ and none quite resemble this saying like pre-school, Little Ashford Linden.

The school prides itself on wanting to make a valuable difference within the community. So, they are challenging schools in the Randburg, Victory Park, Linden and surrounding areas to show their support to not only their CPFs but to make a difference in the lives of various charity organisations or at-risk schools and children.

Andy Swanepoel, the school’s principal said for them, this year especially, it is about making a difference in people’s lives and paying it forward. “We want to make a difference and we want our communities to realise that they too need to make a difference,” adding it is important to show children what it means to be a human being who exudes compassion and care.

For her, it is important to get people excited about being a part of the change in the community and getting involved. Swanepoel’s main drive is the question, ‘What is your school doing to make a difference?’
She celebrates the work done by all CPFs in the various communities who do the work they do with minimal financial resources. “When all of us have needed the support of the CPF they have been there for us and, if they do not get the support they need, they will inevitably close down and we cannot allow for that.”

Swanepoel feels it’s time for schools, as there is such a vast number of them in our communities, to step forward through fundraising and giving donations. On February 24, she along with other principals will head to Linden Police Station with gardeners and their tools in tow as they plan to start cleaning up the memorial garden. To assist in making this happen, Pinnacle College Linden is helping with the collection for this project.
