Why you should call Crum for service delivery

LINDEN – Though many residents know very little about Citizen Relationship and Urban Management, it could be the solution you've been looking for.

Do you know of Citizen Relationship and Urban Management (Crum)?

It is an entity of the City, which is separated regionally, tasked with assisting each region with their service delivery issues. Ward 99 councillor Nikki van Dyk explained more about the entity.

She shared how a lot of residents seemed to think that they have to go through their ward councillor to have entities such as Metro police or City Parks attend to something, which was not the case. “They can reach out to Crum via email or give them a call and they can just put in their request,” she said.

The councillor added you should call Crum if you were experiencing persistent City Power or Joburg Water issues and they could help put pressure on these entities. “Within Crum, each ward also has an urban inspector and this person’s job is to drive around the area and log faults,” she said.
She said in her ward within the past three weeks, the inspector had logged more than 200 faulty street lights. These issues were checked on a month later to see if they had been attended to.

Crum has been in place for a number of years and not many people knew about it, and Van Dyk said this was probably because of the City’s poor communication about the entity to residents.
“This new administration is very adamant to make sure that it is not just one entity pushing service delivery as every official in the City needs to start driving for better services to our residents.”

Details: Crum Region B 011 718 9622/15.
