Tshepo’s hope for 2022

NORTHCLIFF – Tshepo Community Development Initiative shares what they hope 2022 will bring for them.

One of Tshepo Community Development Initiative’s biggest wishes for 2022 is to find a permanent home/house for their Windsor aftercare.

This initiative works to address social challenges in their direct community in the north-western suburbs of the city in such areas as Northcliff, Windsor and surrounds.

Through its Windsor aftercare they spend time with kids and help with homework. Another wish for the new year is to be able to have regular market days for the community to support its local entrepreneurs (#Tshepopreneurs).

In the new year they also hope to reach more people in the community, whether the need is assistance with ID books, social work services and job creation. They hope to expand their job creation initiative that aids in providing a space and a platform for informal traders and crafters to get access to the market.

They are currently most in need of a home for their Windsor aftercare to be housed in. Its recreation centre was closed by the City of Johannesburg for maintenance. As such they are currently housed in a temporary set-up.

The permanent home they seek would ideally be a house that has a kitchen, an outside play area and a space that can be turned into a vegetable garden to supply the aftercare kitchen with healthy veggies for meals. They would also need financial assistance to keep the bills paid and to keep everything in good working order.

The non-profit said they are very proud of the small businesses and their owners. As it recognises it takes a lot of guts and a lot of work to set up a small business. They urged the community to support their #Tshepopreneurs by coming for a car wash, buying seasonal veggies, refilling your gas, buying firewood, compost or seedlings.
