Why there is nothing ‘klein’ about Leandie du Randt

AUCKLAND PARK – The actress reprises her role in Klein Karoo 2.

For too long the age-old idiom, ‘A jack of all trades’ has come to imply something that is negative.
Actually, its origins were meant to compliment someone with its full phrase being ‘A jack of trades is a master of none, but often times better than a master of none.’

According to a Forbes article, [https://www.forbes.com/sites/jodiecook/2021/05/13/why-being-a-jack-of-all-trades-is-essential-for-success/?sh=1949325f1c45] picking an area and learning it inside-out is one way to begin a specialist career but trying a lot of things can lead to self-discovery.

Quite arguably the perfect example of this journey to self-discovery is actress, TV host, and author, and businesswoman, Leandie du Randt, who reprises her role as Jackie, a character she describes as someone who does not care what others think of her nor feels the need to please them in, Klein Karoo 2 which premiers on DSTV Box Office on December 15.

The University of Johannesburg alum said through watching Klein Karoo 2 audiences can expect to ‘feel good afterwards and it will make you laugh and cry all the way through’.

She has acted in numerous films and thinks she is most recognised for her portrayal of Emma in Jagveld and her time on the soapie, Binnerlanders. Her first acting role was in Getroud met Rugby, though that is not all you have seen from her on the small screen. She is also the host of a dating game show, Love Island SA as well as weight-loss show, Slank on kykNET.

Du Randt loves that through acting she gets to experience different roles, without bearing the real-life circumstances thereof. “It makes me realise how scary some people’s lives must be and gives me empathy and gratitude for my own more than anything else,” she said. She added acting had given her a platform to use her other passions and talents to reach and inspire others through her motivational writing and speaking, businesses and influencing work. Her second self-help book, My Life Hacks has just been released

The actress hoped her work inspired people to be themselves completely. “You will never come first when you think you are competing against others or when you try to be like others, however, no one can beat you at being you, so be you.”

To other aspirant actresses and actors, Du Randt urged them to always have a back-up or two that would help keep their mind busy and creative when the acting work was slow and scarce as it would help you be less desperate, “Few things are more off-putting than a desperate artist.”
