Nicole Fortuin takes on the Klein Karoo 2

LINDEN – The actress shares on her role in the movie and what she hopes audiences take away from the film.

Meet Nicole Fortuin, though she needs no introduction what with all acting roles she has portrayed, her latest role in the Afrikaans rom-com, Klein Karoo 2 will captivate you.

She has always been a performer at heart and it was in her time at University of Cape Town, and got into its drama school, that she decided acting was for her, “I began to understand that this can be the work I do in the world.”

Inspired by fellow thespians such as Meryl Streep, Adam Driver, Regina King and Jonathan Majors to name a few, her own growing repertoire has seen her delve into roles that sought her comedic side as well as self-discovery. In Klein Karoo 2, a film that will premier DSTV Box Office on December 15, she plays the character of Tarryn.
” I’d never done an Afrikaans rom-com before and when KK2 came along it became the opportunity to do just that,” she said.
She added that she enjoyed balancing the romance with comedy, all understanding how certain dramatic tropes come to exist and why they’re integral to the genre.

After watching this film, she hopes audiences are left feeling good after having laughed so much and that they connect with the characters all while leaving room for a little more belief in the power of love.

Nicole hopes that through her work she would be remembered as someone who worked with integrity, strove for excellence and inspired others to do the same. Hopefully these ideals lead her straight to one of her wishes which is to one day receive a Bafta Award.

The Linden resident shared that her job as an actress allows her to experience moments of pure, undiluted joy. “When I get to the truth of a character or story and share that earnestly with others. The fact that film/TV/theatre mediums connect us, reflect our times and show us possible futures is what will bind me to my work forever.”

Outside of acting she loves photography and creating art of any kind. She also has interests in psychology but most of all she loves being with the people closest to her as she appreciates their love.
