A run for Corbin

NORTHCLIFF – Dylan Lockwood will be running to raise funds for his dear friend, Corbin Parker... find out why.

According to various sources, it is equally as important to be a good friend as it is to have good friends.

Whether you are at your happiest or your most downhearted, you hope that your friend would willingly and lovingly be there for these moments. A friend who is arguably one of the good ones is Dylan Lockwood.

Come December 5, Lockwood plans to run 50km at Cradle of Humankind to hopefully raise R50 000 for his dear friend, Corbin Parker. After falling down a two-storey building in the Netherlands, where he currently resides, Parker sustained serious head trauma along with a broken back, a damaged spine and multiple broken ribs. “He is currently paralysed and the doctors are unsure if he will walk again, he has already undergone six operations and will need at least two months of rehabilitation,” explained Lockwood.

This tragic incident took place October 27 and Lockwood’s efforts are to raise funds to help with Parker’s hospital bills and rehabilitation. “I am looking for people to pledge R1 for every kilometre I run on the day, the goal being to run 50km.”

He compelled those who would be willing to pledge more than R1 to do so.

The two of them have been friends for the past 13 years after having met while they both attended Northcliff High School. In later years, Parker left for Amsterdam for a job opportunity but the distance did little to strain their friendship.

Lockwood said some of Parker’s best character traits are that he is full of life, friendly and ambitious, “He is enthusiastic and well-loved by everyone he meets,” he said.

Parker added he was great golfer and they used to play indoor football together.
