The 942s entertain Roosevelt Park High School

ROOSEVELT PARK – The band is said to be the country's youngest pop-rock band.

Jacaranda FM’s youth band, the 942s, debuted their mini-tour of three Gauteng schools at Roosevelt High School.

The band, who was discovered during lockdown, released their first single, We Are the Voice, in lockdown, and now the group of talented young musos are finally able to take their world-class performances on the road.

From October 19 to 28, the 942s and their music mentor, Martin Bester, will travel to selected schools, generating some much-needed school spirit after the toll lockdown and the pandemic has taken on Mzansi’s youngsters.

“Covid-19 has robbed our youth of so much. When I think about school and how fleeting our time is there –now is the perfect time to remind SA’s youth of our unique South African ‘gees’ through music made by their peers,” said Bester, Jacaranda FM presenter and 942s mentor.

“We’re visiting these schools because families and children have always been a super important audience for us at Jacaranda FM, but this tour is also for the band. The 942s are incredibly excited to perform to live crowds and practise their showmanship after months of digital work-arounds and delayed gigs.”
