Helen Joseph Hospital staff get cheer-up kits

ROSSMORE – Healthcare workers were given these kits by Asez Wao, a group invested in changing the world.

Young adult work volunteer group, Asez Wao recently spent their morning at Helen Joseph Hospital delivering 150 cheer-up kits to the staff.

These kits consisted of an assortment of delicious treats as well as a heartfelt hand-written letter for each recipient.

According to group youth leader Lehlohonolo Makhokolo, this gesture was important to them as they saw it necessary to show their appreciation toward the hard work medical staff do daily and this was a way of giving them further encouragement. “While everyone else was in the comfort of their own homes with their families, medical workers were at the forefront during this Covid-19 Pandemic, while away from family.”

CEO of Helen Joseph Hospital, Relebohile Ncha thanked the volunteers, “It is really heart-warming, that we have a group that has thought about us and has come through to support our staff. We are going to give these goodies to our support staff. Thank you so much for the donation, we really appreciate it.”

Chief director of Gauteng Department of Health, Dr Sipho Senabe, echoed the same sentiments of gratitude all while he acknowledged how this kind gesture contributed to changing the country.

Makhokolo hopes this initiative may encourage healthcare workers and also reminds them that the nation supports and acknowledges their efforts during this Coivd-19 pandemic. He said groups like Asez Wao are important to the community as their efforts contribute to making improvements for mankind and earth. “By taking care of our neighbours and communities with passion, positive energy and participating in environmental protection activities so that we can save the earth and humanity.”

He concluded that youth can better effect change in their community by being the example of good, this can change the mindset of another. “This virtuous cycle continues until the whole world actively participates in saving our neighbourhood and community with the love of Mother which is an unconditional love.”
